Biagio Izzo in "The Art of the Scam": laughter, misunderstandings, and "well-intentioned" scams in Sicily

The overwhelming and unmistakable flair of Biagio Izzo arrives in Sicily with The Art of the Scam, a brilliant comedy written by Toni Fornari, Andrea Maia, Vincenzo Sinopoli, and Augusto Fornari, who also directs. Produced by AG Spettacoli, the show promises a whirlwind of misunderstandings, plot twists, and hilarious situations, in a crescendo of pure entertainment. The performance will be on the bill from March 13 to 29, 2026 at the Teatro ABC di Catania, as part of the new Turi Ferro season.

Amid paradoxical moments, comedic rhythm, and flashes of emotion, a scam “for a good cause” unfolds. Alongside Biagio Izzo, a top-notch cast: Carla Ferrara, Roberto Giordano, Ciro Pauciullo, Arduino Speranza, and Adele Vitale. On the eve of the outcome of an important contract for the restoration of the Cathedral of Naples, Gianmario, a construction entrepreneur for three generations and a gentleman of the Pope, is forced to welcome his brother-in-law Francesco, a seasoned con artist, who has chosen the relative's apartment as his residence for house arrest. Concerned about his own and the company's reputation, he sees his world crumble when far more serious troubles arise. However, it will be the uncomfortable yet providential presence of Francesco that will guide him out of a colossal scam. “I love both comedy and farce,” explains Augusto Fornari in the director's notes, “but what I enjoy most is finding a balance between the two genres and ensuring they coexist without one ‘polluting’ the other. With Biagio Izzo, it was very easy to find this harmony, because he is an actor not only of comedic instinct but also of great stage intelligence, and his company, made up of extraordinary actors, allowed me to work at my best to create the climates and atmospheres that make the comedy a credible snapshot of life. Laughter and fun are guaranteed.”

The Art of the Scam, included in the Turi Ferro lineup, will also be staged from March 17 to 19 at the Teatro Golden di Palermo for an unmissable three-day event.
