Beauty as the language of the soul and faith made material. On Wednesday March 18, at 11:30 AM, the evocative setting of the San Lorenzo Church (Mudial Exhibition Center) will officially open its doors to the exhibition "The Face of God, the Face of Man". An exhibition itinerary that promises to be much more than a simple art showcase: it is a path of meditation that will accompany visitors until May 19, 2026.

A journey in five stages

The exhibition is conceived as a spiritual and artistic journey divided into five thematic areas: Revelation, Gift, Journey, Waiting, and Resurrection. Through this framework, the exhibition guides the audience in a profound reflection that starts from the divine mystery to reach human reality, renewing the announcement of Easter through the splendor of the works.

The treasures of the territory: from the 17th to the 19th century

The heart of the exhibition is represented by works coming from the most vibrant centers of the diocese: from Palma di Montechiaro to Sciacca, passing through Racalmuto, Lucca Sicula, Casteltermini, Sambuca di Sicilia, Santa Margherita di Belice, and Santo Stefano Quisquina.

These are canvases and artifacts created between the 17th and 19th centuries, originally made for private devotion or for the solemnity of the liturgy. The voices of this heritage are given by the brushes of the greatest artists linked to the Agrigento land, including notable names such as: Domenico Provenzani, Father Fedele da Sambuca, Tommaso Rossi, Federico Panepinto.

In these works, the expressive force of popular piety meets the refined artistic languages of the time, transforming historical memory into a living and pulsating expression of faith.

The Shroud and the Gregorian atmosphere

The most intense moment of the journey is undoubtedly the encounter with the copy of the Holy Shroud, a precious contact relic kept in the Catedral of Agrigento. To make the experience fully immersive, the rooms will be enveloped by the notes of Gregorian chants, creating an atmosphere of silence and prayer that invites the visitor to stop and look "beyond" the cloth.

An opportunity for rediscovery

The exhibition "The Face of God, the Face of Man" is not just an event for specialists, but an opportunity for the entire community to reclaim the cultural and spiritual heritage of the territory. An unmissable appointment to rediscover how art, over the centuries, has been able to give a face to the invisible.
