The magnetic charm of sub-fossil coral, resurfaced from the depths in the 1800s to enchant the world, will continue to shine in the showcases of the "Pietro Griffo" Regional Archaeological Museum. Given the unprecedented success with critics and the public, the exhibition "The Secrets of Sciacca Coral: history, craftsmanship, beauty" has been officially extended: there will be time until June 2, 2026 to admire a treasure that intertwines myth, craftsmanship, and Sicilian identity.

The decision to extend the exhibition arises from the need to accommodate the enormous influx of visitors and to include the large tourist flows of the upcoming spring season. The project, born from the passion of the historic Nocito-Di Giovanna family, has proven to be a fundamental piece in the cultural mosaic of the Valley of the Temples, confirming that the dialogue between archaeology and high craftsmanship is a winning formula.

A journey through depths and legend

The exhibition is not a simple showcase of jewelry, but a true immersive journey into the epic of the red gold of Sciacca. The heart of the exhibition beats around the discovery of the world's unique coral deposit, which occurred off the coast of Sciacca over a century ago.

The exhibition path, curated by the Nocito Museum (guardian of a tradition passed down for four generations), features: period jewelry of inestimable artistic value; raw branches of coral fished in the 1800s, intact testimonies of a lost ecosystem; ancient working tools, rare prints, and bilingual graphics that tell the story of the fishermen's toil and the creative genius of coral masters.

A winning synergy for the territory

The setup at the Griffo Museum enhances the harmonious contrast between the millennia-old artifacts of the permanent collection and the preciousness of coral. "It is a beauty that, from the depths of the sea, continues to seduce the entire world," explain the organizers. The collaboration between the Agrigento museum hub and the Nocito Museum thus transforms historical memory into a living heritage, accessible and capable of generating economic and tourist value for the entire island.

With this extension, the exhibition aims to become the unmissable event of spring 2026 in Agrigento, celebrating an art that is an authentic expression of Sicilian pride.
