Yesterday afternoon, the delegation of the Lions Club Ragusa Host visited the anti-violence center “Il Pettirosso”, in a meeting full of meaning that aimed to reaffirm, with concrete gestures and heartfelt words, the closeness of the association to women who suffer violence and to those who accompany them daily in their path of rebirth.

The president of the Lions Club Ragusa Host, Carmen Occhipinti, led the delegation that met with volunteers, operators, and managers of the facility, gathering testimonies, stories, fragilities, and hopes.

A moment of great humanity, marked by listening and sharing.

“In a historical moment when violence against women continues to represent an open wound for society as a whole, our message has been simple and essential: women are not alone,” declared President Occhipinti, emphasizing the profound meaning of the service dedicated to Pettirosso.

During the visit, the association made a donation to support the activities of the center, a contribution aimed at strengthening the protection, reception, and psychological support pathways for women and minors.

However, as the president clarified, the Club's commitment goes beyond the economic aspect: “Pettirosso is a precious place, made of competence, humanity, and dedication. Here, women are welcome, listened to, and accompanied in a path of rebirth, often together with their children. Supporting this reality means supporting life, freedom, and the future. Our commitment will also be cultural: we want to raise awareness about the existence of this center, encourage women to seek help, and promote a culture of affection based on respect, kindness, and equality. The prevention of violence starts with education, especially for the new generations.”

The Lions Club Ragusa Host thus renews its mission of service to the community, promoting the values of solidarity, social responsibility, and protection of individuals.

“To the women of our city, we want to say firmly: you are not alone. The community is here, the institutions are here, the associations are here. Only together can we build a future free from violence,” concluded Occhipinti.

What made the day even more touching was a special gift: a drawing created by the children of the shelter, with the words “Thank you”, which sealed the visit with a symbol of gratitude, hope, and rebirth.
