On the occasion of the celebrations dedicated to Saint Joseph, the community of the Most Holy Savior of Ragusa experienced a particularly intense moment last night with the holy mass presided over by Father Giuseppe Iacono, in the presence of the parish priest Father Corrado Garozzo, and animated by the parish of Saint John Mary Vianney.
The participation was numerous and focused; in the homily, the priest offered a deep meditation on the theme of listening, central both in the Lenten journey and in the novena in honor of the Patriarch.
Father Giuseppe drew attention to the liturgy of the Word, recalling how Moses addresses the people, inviting them to listen to the laws and norms he is about to deliver, those we now know as the Ten Commandments.
Not simple precepts to study or memorize, but “ten words of freedom” that demand to be internalized through listening: only in this way, he explained, can they authentically shape our freedom.
When a person does not listen — neither to themselves, nor to others, nor to God — they risk being guided exclusively by their own ego, by the desires and inclinations of the heart, which are not always oriented towards good.
Human nature, marked by fragility and sin, needs to be educated; for this reason, listening to the Word becomes a necessary exercise to give the right direction to our actions, for our benefit and that of those around us.
From here comes the final invitation: Lent and the novena to Saint Joseph are a precious time to put God back at the center and relearn to listen to Him.
The program of celebrations will continue in the coming days with further appointments.
Tomorrow, Friday, March 13, from 10 AM to 12 PM, there will be Eucharistic adoration; at 6:30 PM, a mass will be celebrated by Canon Priest Giuseppe Ramondazzo and animated by the Blessed Clement Marchisio Parish of Ragusa, followed by the community Stations of the Cross.
On Saturday, March 14, at 6:30 PM, the eucharistic celebration will be presided over by Father Francesco Mallemi and animated by the San Pio X parish of Ragusa; couples are particularly invited, and at the end of the liturgy, a special blessing will be imparted.
A journey that continues to involve the entire community, intertwining prayer, tradition, and the renewed desire to walk together under the gaze of Saint Joseph.
