Severely Disabled, the Region Tops Up the Fund to Pay February's Benefits

For people with severe disabilities, 20 million euros have been allocated in Sicily by the regional department of Family and Social Policies for the payment of the economic benefit for the month of February 2026. Specifically, the department has committed the amount of 20,629,817 euros from the Fund for Disability and Non-Self-Sufficiency. The resources will be allocated to all the Asp of the Island based on the communication of the number of people affected by severe disabilities. The subjects registered in January 2026 amount to over 15,000.

On the Island, the Fund for Disability and Non-Self-Sufficiency (Fna) finances support measures, including service agreements and care allowances, mainly for severe disabilities (over 18 million euros allocated in September 2025 for over 15,000 people) and serious disabilities. The annual funds, exceeding 170 million euros, are disbursed through Asp and health districts for people with severe disabilities (certified under Article 3, paragraph 3, Law 104/92 and accompanying allowance) and serious disabilities. The measures include care contributions of up to 1,000 euros and a solidarity contribution of up to 300 euros per month.
