During a targeted territorial control service aimed at the prevention and repression of drug-related crimes, the Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Section of the Cefalù Company arrested in the act a 43-year-old resident of Lascari, accused of "illegal possession for the purpose of drug trafficking".

The man, noticed by the military who know the area well, reportedly showed evident agitation at the sight of the patrol: a shifty glance and movements indicative of an attempt to conceal something illegal prompted the officers to proceed with a proactive check. The intuition was confirmed when the individual attempted to dispose of a bag, throwing it into a flowerbed. The action, immediately intercepted by the Carabinieri, led to his detention and the recovery of the bag.

Inside the package, 17 doses of cocaine were found, with a total weight of about 7 grams, already packaged and ready for sale.

The subsequent home search, conducted at the 43-year-old's residence, allowed for the discovery, inside a box hidden under a kitchen cabinet, of an additional 50 grams of cocaine, 100 grams of hashish, packaging materials, and 8,000 euros in cash, an amount believed to be proceeds from illegal activity.

All substances were seized and sent to the Provincial Command's Drug Analysis Laboratory for qualitative and quantitative testing.

The Preliminary Investigating Judge of the Termini Imerese Court validated the arrest, ordering house arrest for the 43-year-old.

Today's operation confirms the constant commitment of the Carabinieri in upholding legality and in combating the spread of drugs, to protect the safety of citizens and the decorum of the territory.
