Ragusa, the Pudm's Vas arrives. Firrincieli: "Now, however, a regulation for temporary concessions is needed."

The city councilor of Ragusa, Sergio Firrincieli, spoke last night in the chamber about the Coastal Management Plan (Pudm), announcing that, after a long wait, the Vas, the Strategic Environmental Assessment essential for proceeding with the document has finally been released.

Finally, we have the Vas for the Pudm – says Firrincieli – a reality that has remained suspended for too long. Now we know that there are technical times to respect and that, once this phase is overcome, we will have to proceed with the approval of the plan and the subsequent passage in the City Council. This means that, realistically, the Pudm will only be operational late in the summer.”

Firrincieli emphasized that the arrival of spring will bring, as it does every year, the first requests for temporary permits on the coastline. On this front, he recalled a commitment made by the administration twelve months ago: “We had left with the promise to draft a specific regulation for temporary concessions. If Vas and Pudm had already been approved, we wouldn’t need it today. But since the times are extending, that regulation becomes essential.”

The councilor also recounted what happened last year when he raised the issue of coastal permits, pushing the entity to block and downsize some concessions. “It was a battle that saw the support of the citizens – he says – and I believe that the vox populi must be heard even today. We cannot afford to be unprepared.”

From here comes the appeal directed to the council: “I ask to accelerate the times for drafting the regulation on temporary concessions. We do not want to find ourselves fighting the same battles as last year. We need clarity, we need transparency, and we need a shared tool, just as it was the will of the entire City Council.”

Firrincieli concluded by emphasizing that the management of the coastal strip cannot be left to improvisation: “The Pudm will arrive too late for the summer season. In the meantime, the regulation is the only tool that can guarantee order, fairness, and respect for the rules.”
