Messina, Daniela Zinnanti found stabbed at home: ex-boyfriend confesses

She wasn't answering the phone, which is why her daughter rushed to her mother's house, finding her lifeless.

The girl called 118, and police officers arrived immediately at the scene, on via Lombardo, in the heart of Messina.

The coroner conducted a preliminary inspection of the body of Daniela Zinnanti, who had turned 50 last July.

The woman had a series of stab wounds to the abdomen. Stabbed to death, the suspicions quickly fell on her ex-boyfriend.

A 67-year-old man, Santino Bonfiglio, was arrested late last night; after a few hours of interrogation, the 67-year-old gave in and confessed to the murder, the result of old grudges and jealousy.

Unemployed, under house arrest with an electronic bracelet, Bonfiglio had gone to his ex's house for a clarification, but the woman reportedly refused a reconciliation.

At that point, Bonfiglio's murderous rage would have erupted.

The officers from the Messina Mobile Squad, coordinated by the Prosecutor's Office, led by prosecutor Antonio D'Amato, are continuing to review the footage from all the cameras and interview witnesses for a detailed reconstruction of the murder.

The woman also leaves behind another child.
