The Athena on the roof of Italy: FIGC recognition for Calogero Falci and promotion to Élite for the Under 15
Twenty years of passion and triumph in the regional championship
February 28, 2026 will remain a date etched in the heart of Athena, a day when the glorious past and the radiant future of the club intertwined in the temple of Italian football.
At the headquarters of Figc in Rome, president Calogero Falci received the Benemerenza for his valuable work in support of youth football, a prestigious honor reserved for officials with at least twenty years of federal service.
The ceremony took place in a solemn atmosphere, elevated by the presence of the highest echelons of local football: Figc president Gabriele Gravina, president of the Lega Nazionale Dilettanti Giancarlo Abete, and president of the Youth and School Sector Vito Tisci.
An exceptional parterre that underscored the value of Falci's work, a cornerstone of that grassroots football which represents the true beating heart of the Italian system.
To the recognition for his "historic" leader, last Sunday was added the apotheosis on the field: the victory in the Under 15 regional championship (Group B).
With two matchdays to spare, the boys achieved promotion to the Élite Championship, a milestone for a club that makes educational quality its trademark.
Under the wise guidance of coach Angelo Greco, the team showcased an impeccable tactical organization.
Among the absolute protagonists of the ascent, three names stand out that have ignited the season: 2012-born striker Luca Frenna, the team's top scorer and a shining promise; midfield metronome Dario Cammilleri (2011-born), and the tireless left-back Roberto Moncada, who proved to be a fundamental tactical weapon for offensive thrust.
