The inspections by the municipal administration of Modica continue in view of the extraordinary maintenance plan for urban roads. This morning, Mayor Maria Monisteri, along with Maintenance Councillor Piero Armenia, conducted a direct inspection of some of the most critical stretches of the city's road network, starting from via Nazionale and the Caitina roundabout, up to the intersection with via Sacro Cuore, one of the most trafficked and strategic areas of the city.

These are arteries that have been in degraded conditions for years, with depressions, settlements, and a pavement that has now been compromised by the continuous flow of traffic. Via Nazionale itself, as numerous local reports recall, has been repeatedly pointed out by residents for the presence of potholes and the need for a structural intervention rather than just ordinary maintenance.

Mayor Monisteri, in her social media update, explained that the scheduled interventions will begin in the spring, with the aim of restoring safety and decorum to a fundamental road axis for urban mobility. But this is not the only construction site coming up.

“These are not the only interventions that we will soon put in place to fix roads that have been in poor condition for years,” said Monisteri, emphasizing how Councillor Armenia has already prepared a comprehensive planning of the works to be initiated in the coming months.

The councillor has indeed worked on an agenda that takes into account the most urgent critical issues of the urban pavement, many of which are concentrated in high-density residential neighborhoods and in the connecting areas between Modica Alta, Modica Bassa, and Modica Sorda. Before the start of the works, the final verification and monitoring operations are underway, necessary to define priorities, intervention methods, and timelines.

The administration aims to proceed with swift timelines, aware of the difficulties that citizens face daily due to the conditions of the road surface. The declared intention is to move beyond the logic of temporary interventions and to initiate a season of planned and lasting maintenance.
