The lunch break cannot be replaced by a meal voucher

The Court of Catania, Labor Section, with ruling of March 5, 2026, has recognized the compensation for the violation of the right to breaks and meals, including the substitute service through the provision of meal vouchers for the employees of the University Polyclinic.

The initiative was promoted by the secretariat of Uil Fpl and followed, in court, by lawyers Sabrina Forbice and Sabrina Spadaro.

The union reports that the compensations have been quantified up to a maximum of 3,800 euros for each claimant.

"This is a great result — declare the secretaries, provincial Mario Conti and deputy Alessandro Spina —.

It is a goal achieved after a meticulous work by our lawyers, which gives us hope for the outcome of the various appeals filed in the other healthcare facilities in Catania. We started this battle, in defense of the workers, in July 2023 as Uil Fpl and now we are achieving a result that we believe is right to share with everyone so that the rights of workers are always respected".
