Suspended for a week a kiosk in Caltagirone: "usual meeting place for criminals"
Numerous inspections carried out at the commercial establishment located in the San Giorgio district
The State Police has ordered the temporary suspension of the activity of a kiosk in Caltagirone, which has become a gathering point for individuals with criminal records, as revealed by repeated checks aimed at verifying compliance with public safety regulations.
The measure is the result of systematic checks carried out by the Police Headquarters of Catania to prevent and combat widespread illegal activities that could potentially disturb public safety.
In particular, agents from the Public Security Commissariat of Caltagirone have conducted numerous inspections at the establishment located in the San Giorgio neighborhood over a significant period, proceeding with specific checks on the patrons.
Monitoring activities revealed the constant presence in the venue of several individuals known to law enforcement for serious offenses, particularly related to drug-related crimes, as well as crimes against property, persons, and public order.
Based on reports from the operators and following the investigation conducted by the Administrative and Social Police Division of the Police Headquarters, which analyzed and evaluated the collected data, the Police Chief of Catania ordered the closure of the establishment for 7 days, pursuant to Article 100 of the Consolidated Public Safety Laws.
The regulation allows the public safety authority to temporarily suspend permits and licenses of establishments that constitute a "habitual meeting place for individuals with criminal records". The provision aims to protect public order and the safety of citizens, ensuring the right to live in a protected environment and to carry out social life and daily activities with peace of mind.
The measure also has a deterrent effect on individuals deemed socially dangerous, who are deprived of a habitual gathering place and informed that their presence is under specific scrutiny by the authorities.
