The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced that a ballistic missile launched from Iran was shot down in Turkish airspace. The missile was destroyed by NATO defenses stationed in the eastern Mediterranean, Ankara stated, adding that fragments of munitions fell in empty fields in Gaziantep, in southeastern Turkey. "We reiterate that all necessary measures will be taken resolutely and without hesitation against any threat to the territory and airspace of our country," the Ministry of Defense stated.

In a separate statement shared on X, Turkey's Director of Communications Burhanettin Duran confirmed that the missile was "timely intercepted and neutralized by NATO air and missile defense forces above the Sahinbey district in Gaziantep." "We once again strongly reiterate our warning to all parties, especially Iran, to refrain from actions that could jeopardize regional security and endanger civilians," he stated.
