A distracted Modica, caught up in the celebration for their promotion to Serie D, "gives away" three golden points to Acquedolcese.
The match starts off on the right foot for the rossoblù, who, in the end, give away more than they should to the eager visitors.
The party before the match on Sunday with Acquedolcese
There are various ways to celebrate a championship, and the choice of Modica leaves the bittersweet aftertaste of someone who already feels satisfied.
After placing the Excellence title (Group B) in the trophy case following a triumphant run that concluded last Sunday, the rossoblù stumble at home, handing the Acquedolcese three points of enormous specific weight, almost a "promotion gift."
The start follows the most predictable script. Despite the festive atmosphere in the stands, the home team immediately pushes forward. At 14', the usual Savasta rises higher than everyone else and, with a header, signs the advantage, confirming his infallible instinct in front of goal.
A few minutes later, the same striker comes close to doubling the score: his shot violently hits the crossbar, stifling the cry for a second goal.
The halftime score reflects a Modica in control and an Acquedolcese that seems destined to play a supporting role in the celebration of “Vincenzo Barone.”
However, in the second half, the competitive tension of the newly crowned champions visibly decreases. With their minds already focused on toasts and official ceremonies, Modica starts to make mistakes in succession.
The Acquedolcese, with their backs against the wall and a desperate need for points, deserves credit for not giving up.
The masterpiece of the guests materializes in the last seven minutes: - 38' st: Caracò finds the right gap and scores the 1-1, taking advantage of a home defense that is too passive. - 42' st: Triolo completes the comeback, freezing the stadium and handing the guests a massive victory.
A “moment of distraction” that does not tarnish the seasonal achievement of the rossoblù, but leaves a veil of regret for not having honored the fans with yet another triumph. For the Acquedolcese, it is a victory that counts for a season; for Modica, just a small blemish on a garment that remains stitched in gold.
