Diao show at the Sinigaglia: Como demolishes Pisa and extends its lead in the Champions zone
The Senegalese striker propels the Larians: a clear 5-0, fourth place secured and Juventus three points behind.
Everything was far too simple for Como, which overwhelmed Pisa with an eloquent 5-0 at Sinigaglia and concretely fuels its Champions League dream.
With eight matches remaining, Cesc Fàbregas' team remains firmly in fourth place, increasing the margin over Juventus to three points.
A decisive victory, built authoritatively by a great team: after a slow start, the lariani struck with every acceleration, taking advantage of a Pisa that was too submissive to create real problems.
The approach of the home team is not brilliant: low rhythm and some inaccuracies. But at the first Tuscan error, the match opens up.
A mistake by Moreo opens the field for Diao, who skips Albiol and, with his left foot, scores the 1-0, returning to the net after 337 days.
The response from Pisa is timid and ends with a high shot from the edge by Tramoni.
On the other side, Como, which meanwhile loses Rodriguez to injury, ignites with the bursts of Diao: the winger takes on and surpasses Canestrelli, then serves Douvikas a ball to simply push into the net for the doubling.
Diao also comes close to the triple with a left-footed shot from a tight angle, but Nicholas flies and deflects it for a corner.
The 3-0 arrives at the start of the second half: Baturina withstands a body-to-body challenge with Canestrelli and beats Nicholas again with a right shot to the corner.
The nerazzurri seem to reopen the game first with Stojilkovic and then with Meister, but in both cases the offside flag extinguishes their hopes.
It is just an illusion: Como remains ruthless and scores the fourth with the “usual” Nico Paz, who finishes with a low left shot from a pass by Moreno, scoring at home for the first time since October.
The match is virtually closed, but the lariani do not let up: Kuhn breaks away on the right and centers for Perrone, who from two steps signs the definitive 5-0.
This is the third time this season that Como has scored at least five goals in the league.
The result allows Fàbregas' team, the best defense in Serie A and the fourteenth match without conceding a goal, to head into the break with fourth place well secured, five points ahead of third-placed Napoli.
After the international fixtures, the final stretch will clarify whether Nico Paz and his teammates are truly ready for the Europe that matters.
