Federico Caruso in the national Top 11 of the Eccellenza: Portopalo talent in the spotlight

A goalkeeper from Portopalo in the Top 11 "National" of Italian Excellence. It is Federico Caruso, the only Sicilian in this selection. Following an excellent performance last Sunday, wearing the Avola jersey, Caruso joins this prestigious selection based on a national level.

At Avola since last summer, a team that also features another talented goalkeeper from Portopalo (Mattia Fratantonio), Caruso is a defensive midfielder with high technical fundamentals. Born in 2007, standing 180 centimeters tall, Caruso started playing in Pachino at the age of three, playing for Fair Play l’Uliveto, the soccer school of brothers Sebastiano and Marco Arangio, winning numerous tournaments and standing out in every age category. Four years later, he moved to Pantanelli di Siracusa where he stayed for seven years, earning personal titles as the best player.

A long period during which he was technically followed by Toni Cannarella and, mainly, by Gaspare Cacciola. The very young player from Portopalo (his father Davide, born in 1971, was a high-level goalkeeper, with a brief experience in C2) won the regional tournament “under 17”, “elite” category, with the team coached by mister Nuccio Foti. A championship that saw the young Portopalo midfielder among the best, also finding space in the regional teams where he was called up. Game organizer, Caruso is capable of sudden bursts and accelerations, not shying away from offensive forays.
