Regarding the alleged aggression reported last Sunday by some members of the Polisportiva Gioiosa, which occurred during the Sicilian Excellence match between Football Club Vittoria Asd and Polisportiva Gioiosa, suspended after just a few moments of play on March 8, 2026, the municipal councilor for Sports, Fabio Prelati, has intervened.
The member of the council recalls the principles of balance, fairness, and sportsmanship.
In relation to the incident reported by some members of the visiting team, Prelati reiterated his absolute impartiality, urging everyone to wait for the results of the official investigations by the competent authorities.
“It is important to remind everyone – declares councilor Prelati – that our city boasts a sports tradition made of sacrifices, commitment, and hospitality. We will defend the image of Vittoria in every forum against narratives that would portray it as a hostile environment. I cannot know what really happened and whether the reported incidents have found actual confirmation – he continues – but should any personal responsibilities emerge, the actions of a few individuals cannot and must not tarnish the sports history of a city that has always lived football with healthy passion and respect for the opponent.”
The councilor also emphasized the climate of loyalty that characterizes the local sports movement: “The sports community of Vittoria is made up of young people who train every day with commitment and loyalty, of the managers and the club, Football Club Vittoria Asd, who make hospitality a fundamental value, and of the fans who support their team with passion and a sense of responsibility. I am confident in the rigor and fairness of the club's managers – concludes Prelati – and I renew my trust in the sports justice authorities and the Law Enforcement who, with great professionalism, ensure public order and the safety of everyone present at the stadium.”
The mayor Francesco Aiello, finally, reiterates: “Sports must always represent mutual respect and confrontation, values that must always characterize the Vittoria community.”
