Experience, quality, and personality at the service of the cause. Alessandro Sbaffo, 35 years old, a forward/attacking midfielder from the Marche region who arrived during the January transfer window, is becoming an increasingly important reference in the locker room of Siracusa, both on and off the field. After the victory of the blues against Giugliano, achieved at the end of an intense match, the former player from higher categories appeared in the press room to share the moods and prospects of the group.
The success against the Campanians – the second win in seven days – is particularly significant in a season finale that means a lot for Siracusa: the goal is salvation and every point is vital. “This match was exciting because the guys knew how to react,” explained Sbaffo, emphasizing the team's ability to stay in the game even during the most complicated moments.
Arriving mid-season, Sbaffo does not hide that he closely observed the path of the blues before saying yes: “I followed Siracusa this season and, when the opportunity arose, I chose to come here at all costs.” Words that reflect a already strong bond with the environment, fueled by the warmth of the fans and the desire to leave a mark that goes beyond the immediate.
The most recurring theme in his statements is that of identity: “Regardless of the results, the message we want to send is that we are creating something that can excite us, something revolutionary. Siracusa belongs to the fans; we are just passing through, and the only important thing is to plant the seed for the fans.” A clear concept: the ambition is to build a credible path that can endure even when people and seasons change.
Sbaffo then shifted the focus to daily work and his relationship with coach Marco Turati, who is gradually integrating him into the team's dynamics: “The coach is someone who puts in significant passion, and it is clearly evident that he has a strong attachment to these colors and this city.” This trust is reciprocated by the player's willingness, ready to contribute in every way: “I try to give what I can to the group, regardless of the role and playing time.”
In the final rush, amidst direct clashes and must-win matches, Siracusa is looking for points but also for conviction. And Sbaffo, with his charisma, seems to have already identified the course: sacrifice, unity, and results as the reward. Because "direct clashes are always important", but it is continuity that can transform emotion into salvation.
