Referendum on justice, in the Ragusano the no front at 61.71%. The provincial PD: "Important result"
The provincial Federation of the Democratic Party of Ragusa expresses satisfaction with the outcome of the constitutional referendum on the justice reform held on March 22 and 23, which concluded with a clear affirmation of the no at the national level and, to an even greater extent, in the Ibleo territory.
In the province of Ragusa, the no received 61.71% of the votes, with a turnout of 47.63%, figures that indicate significant participation and a clear direction from the electorate.
"This is an important result – declares the provincial secretary of the PD Angelo Curciullo – that demonstrates how a conscious and responsible choice has also emerged in our territory. Citizens wanted to defend the balance between the powers of the State and reject a reform that would have profoundly affected the structure of justice."
The local picture reflects the national trend, with a prevalence of the no throughout Italy and an even clearer margin in Sicily, confirming a consolidated trend also in the Ragusano.
"In these weeks – continues Curciullo – the Democratic Party has carried out thorough and continuous work across the province. We have promoted public assemblies, meetings in clubs, moments of in-depth discussion in municipalities, involving administrators, members, volunteers, and citizens. From initiatives in the main centers to events in smaller municipalities, through participatory meetings like the one in Santa Croce Camerina and public and qualified discussions like in Ragusa, the PD has contributed to creating spaces for information and open debate, often in collaboration with civic and political realities in the area. This was not a top-down campaign – adds Curciullo – but a shared path, built day by day, going among the people, explaining the contents of the reform in detail and listening to doubts and concerns. It is also thanks to this widespread work that we are registering such a clear result today.”
The PD secretary then directs a jab at the center-right forces: "This is also a political lesson for the right – emphasizes the provincial PD secretary – which sees a plan aimed at intervening incorrectly on a delicate issue like justice sink. Citizens rejected a divisive reform, which risked altering fundamental balances and weakening democratic guarantees."
The provincial Federation of the PD of Ragusa thanks the voters who went to the polls and those who contributed to animating the public debate on the merits of the reform. “This vote shows that when we invest in participation and the quality of democratic debate, citizens respond. From here we restart, with even more determination, to defend the principles of the Constitution and strengthen our democracy.”
