Ispica and the quinquennial scrapping, formal request for the convening of the city council
Six members of the classroom have requested an urgent meeting on the topic.
The Municipality of Ispica
A formal and incisive action to overcome the stalemate on the simplified definition of local taxes. The city councilors Carmelo Oddo, Salvatore Milana, Giovanni Muraglie, Angelina Sudano, Pierenzo Muraglie, and Mary Ignaccolo have requested the urgent convening of the city council, with the aim of approving the regulation related to the so-called "Fifth Tax Amnesty".
The initiative arises from the need to provide the taxpayers of Ispica with a concrete tool to sustainably regularize debts with the local tax authority and, at the same time, ensure an injection of liquidity into the municipality's coffers, which are severely strained by the current financial situation.
“The Municipality of Ispica is in a serious and prolonged state of financial distress,” explain the signatories. “In such a situation, it is essential to use every available lever to recover resources and give citizens the opportunity to get in compliance.”
The issue is not new: during the session on February 19, the Administration had committed to quickly prepare the necessary documents. However, more than a month later, there has been no progress.
“No measures have been adopted despite the promises,” emphasize the opposition representatives. “For this reason, we deemed it no longer postponable to initiate a formal action to bring the regulation draft prepared by IFEL to the council.”
What makes the matter even more pressing is the time factor: the deadlines for activating the benefit are imminent. Every day of delay, the councilors warn, risks turning into a lost opportunity for both the municipality, which struggles with collections, and for citizens looking to regularize their position without incurring excessive penalties.
The signatories trust in the sensitivity of the Council Presidency and hope for a very swift convening, so that bureaucracy and political inertia do not cause further harm to the Ispica community.
