The Modica Democratic Party, through the voice of city secretary Francesco Stornello, expresses full satisfaction with the outcome of the referendum consultation.
The final data from the 51 city polling stations deliver an unequivocal result: the city has decisively chosen to protect the Constitution.
In the Ibleo center, the success of the “no” is clear and takes on a symbolic meaning at the national level.
The community not only rejected the reform, but did so with very high percentages, placing it at the top of critical participation.
Modica is indeed the municipality with the highest percentage of “no” in the entire province of Ragusa, confirming a strong political and civic sensitivity.
“This vote is a choice of civic conscience that goes beyond political affiliation,” declares secretary Francesco Stornello.
“The people of Modica have resolutely rejected the attempt to alter the architecture of our Republic. We are proud of how our city has confirmed itself as a bastion of democracy and constitutional sensitivity.”
Stornello also emphasized the high level of public debate that took place in the area: “I feel the duty to thank the citizens, the committee for the no, the political forces, and the associations. The debate in Modica was lively and passionate, but always marked by mutual respect. When a community discusses its Fundamental Law with this intensity, it is the entire democracy that emerges strengthened.”
Looking ahead, the Democratic Party interprets this result not as a goal, but as an impetus for local political action. “This extraordinary democratic response is for us a new starting point,” concludes Stornello. “The result confirms the validity of our daily commitment. As demonstrated today, the future of Modica is built on participation, and we are ready to do our part in service of all citizens.”
