Pozzallo, tension rises. Deputy Mayor Monte responds to Italia Viva: "Pretextual and unfounded statements"
The subject of the discussion is the outsourcing of the tax collection service.
An overview of the city of Pozzallo
Controversy in Pozzallo over the new collection regulation: Raffaele Monte rejects the accusations from the Italia Viva councilor, Uccio Agosta, calling them "instrumental" and "unfounded", and questions his absence from the preparatory work and the council session in which the act was approved.
According to Monte, Agosta did not participate in the numerous preliminary meetings dedicated to drafting the text, nor in the city council meeting yesterday, despite a formal request from the Commissioner ad Acta in view of the approval.
His presence, he emphasizes, could have provided a useful contribution and concrete proposals in compliance with the regulations, as occurred with other councilors.
On the contrary, Monte observes, Agosta is the only one of the 16 members of the chamber who did not propose any amendments or corrections, preferring to intervene afterwards with sterile criticisms and unrealistic promises, "as if he were unaware of the administrative dynamics", despite having already held institutional positions.
On the merits, Monte asserts that the approved regulation strengthens guarantees for taxpayers, establishing clearer and more certain criteria.
There would be no punitive purpose: the collection of unpaid taxes is already entrusted to the Revenue Agency-Collection.
The new framework, he clarifies, does not create opposition between public and private, but expands the tools provided by law, introducing more modern and advantageous opportunities for citizens, such as forms of facilitated settlement — for example, the scrapping — currently not available through the Agency.
The claims about alleged "aggressive" procedures, Monte argues, are misleading: the methods of enforced recovery are established by law and do not depend on either the regulation or the appointed entity.
The municipal offices will continue to ensure full availability and, in case of economic difficulties, additional installment options will be provided.
Monte concludes by thanking the city councilors who participated "with a sense of responsibility and love for the city of Pozzallo", citing them as an example of politics based on presence, competence, and commitment, far from late controversies.
