The development prospects of internal areas, the mayor of Monterosso in discussion with the president of the Province

Constructive summit between the president of the Free Municipal Consortium of Ragusa, Maria Rita Schembari and the mayor of Monterosso Almo, Salvatore Pagano, aimed at defining shared strategies for the growth of the internal areas of the Iblei region.

At the center of the discussion was the strengthening of synergy with Gal Natiblei and the promotion of the international fair “The Sicily Village”, scheduled to take place in Valletta.

“Gal Natiblei groups the municipalities of the internal areas of the Southeast, including our three mountain municipalities — Monterosso Almo, Giarratana, and Chiaramonte Gulfi. These are territories of great landscape and cultural value, but they suffer more than others from issues related to population decline. A concrete relaunch, also through economic and commercial agreements with nearby Malta, could therefore represent a strategic lever for the development and enhancement of these areas,” clarifies President Schembari.

“We are very satisfied and invite all the municipalities of the province of Ragusa to participate in the initiative scheduled for June 12 and 13 in Malta. This is a grassroots initiative, involving mayors and representatives of the Free Consortiums,” adds Mayor Salvatore Pagano, ensuring the full involvement of local businesses.
