The photo that implicates Andrea Delmastro embraced by Mauro Caroccia: why the presence of the undersecretary in the Government could be at an end
The leading figure of Fdi was a partner in a restaurant with a family considered a front for the Senese clan.
Undersecretary Delmastro with Mauro Caroccia, convicted for mafia, in the photo published by Repubblica.
There is a photo that could be the turning point of the government adventure of Undersecretary Andrea Delmastro. It was taken on a night in October 2023 and published by Repubblica. Two men appear: Andrea Delmastro, Undersecretary of Justice, and Mauro Caroccia, a historic figure in Roman catering. And the problem is precisely Caroccia.
The anti-mafia investigations, included in the file “Family Affairs”, describe Caroccia as a “frontman” for the Senese camorra clan. His legal troubles ended with a final conviction of four years for aggravated fictitious registration by mafia methods.
The Senese, historically led by the boss Michele “’O Pazzo”, are a clan rooted in Rome for decades, capable of infiltrating the legal economy — particularly in catering — to launder illicit capital.
If the 2023 photograph had remained an isolated incident, it could have been dismissed as a coincidence. But about a year later, on December 16, 2024, Le Cinque Forchette srl was established at via Tuscolana 452, the same address as the last steakhouse linked to the Caroccia empire. Among the founding partners is Delmastro himself, with a 25% share, while the sole administration is entrusted to Miriam Caroccia, a twenty-year-old, daughter of Mauro. Between late 2025 and early 2026, the undersecretary sells his shares, leaving the young woman as the sole owner of the company.
The real issue raised by the image is the theme of political opportunity for those handling sensitive institutional dossiers such as justice reform and the penitentiary system. The dissemination of the photo has triggered a storm: the opposition demands that Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni report to Parliament, while the majority rallies around Delmastro, who has previously been at the center of fierce controversies over the Cospito case.
