Iacolino returns home: the Asp of Agrigento revokes the leave of absence

It is as if there are two Salvatore (Totò) Iacolino in the formal acts of public administration. One, recognized and identifiable by his name and surname, and one that has suddenly become an omissis. We are not talking about the judicial acts of the investigation that has engulfed him with the charge of external complicity in mafia association for having favored the Favara boss Carmelo Vetro, but rather about more bureaucratic documents, which will soon reopen the doors of the offices of the Asp of Agrigento for the ousted manager.

The first document is dated March 10. The agency orders the cessation of the leave of absence that had been granted in 2023 to employee Salvatore Iacolino, administrative director of the Asp, to allow him to hold the position of general director of the strategic planning department at the Region, to grant him a second one and thus allow him to hold the position of general director of the "Gaetano Martino" hospital company. However, at the same time, the news of the investigation against Iacolino was filling the front pages of newspapers, leading to the decision of the former European parliamentarian himself to resign from his position in Messina from which the Schifani Junta had suspended him. Thus, the Asp signs a new provision, dated March 12, which is an endless collection of omissis (the formula appears a total of 20 times), but the subject is always Iacolino: it is explained that "from information acquired through the press, this Asp has learned that Dr. omissis has resigned effective March 11 from the appointment of omissis" and that therefore all leave is revoked and he must return to work. No mention is made of the serious charges against Iacolino which, of course, will need to be proven in the appropriate venues.
