Ragusa and the case of the fake volunteers, Schininà: "The Municipality is drafting the first contracts. Therefore, we were right."
The city secretary of the Democratic Party provides an update on a matter that continues to be a hot topic.
The city secretary of the Pd of Ragusa Riccardo Schininà
The municipal administration of Ragusa has started the signing of the first occasional performance contracts with some of the former volunteers employed in the sports facilities. For the Democratic Party, this confirms what has been reported in previous years.
“The fact that the Municipality of Ragusa has begun to sign the first contracts with some of the former volunteers of the sports facilities demonstrates that the Democratic Party was right to denounce a deeply flawed system. For years, people who performed ongoing and essential activities for the operation of public facilities and structures have been effectively used as unprotected workers, with meager compensation and disguised as expense reimbursements.”
This is stated by the secretary of the Pd circle in Ragusa, Riccardo Schininà, commenting on the start of new relationships, albeit temporary, by the Municipality towards some former volunteers.
“The fact that today we are starting to contract these people (even if with temporary instruments) is a first step in the direction we have indicated from the beginning: to recognize rights and dignity to those who have ensured for years the opening of sports facilities and various public services in the city. However, now – concludes Schininà – we need to go beyond temporary solutions. The city needs a stable and transparent system for the management of sports facilities and cultural assets, based on services entrusted through clear procedures and regularly hired workers. This is – he concludes – the direction indicated also by the motions we submitted yesterday to the City Council.”
