Bad weather returns to Sicily with cold, stormy winds, and rough seas.
Gale winds and storm surges across much of Italy, gusts reaching strong gale force on the two major islands, snow above 400–600 m, and yellow alert for several regions.
The return of bad weather
From this afternoon, storm winds are expected in Liguria, Lombardy, South Tyrol, Trentino, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Sardinia, Marche, Umbria, and Lazio, with subsequent extension to Abruzzo, Molise, Campania, Apulia, Basilicata, Sicily, and Calabria. Gusts up to strong storm are forecast, particularly on the two major islands, and storm surges along exposed coastlines. This is reported in a notice from Civil Protection.
From tonight, the notice also predicts snowfall in Emilia-Romagna, Marche, Abruzzo, Molise, northern Apulia and in the eastern sectors of Tuscany, Umbria, and Lazio, generally above 400-600 meters, with weak to moderate accumulations at ground level, up to abundant at higher altitudes.
For tomorrow, a yellow weather-hydro alert has been issued for Abruzzo and Molise, in the eastern sectors of Emilia-Romagna, Marche, Umbria, and Lazio, in northern Apulia, as well as in Tyrrhenian Calabria and Basilicata.
