The Aretusean Prosecutor's Office has notified 31-year-old Siracusan Francesco Mirabella of the notice of conclusion of investigations in the context of the murder of naval officer Giuseppe Pellizzeri. The next step will be the request for indictment that prosecutor Stefano Priolo will formulate along with the specific qualification of the crime.

This act will allow lawyer Antonio Meduri, who represents Mirabella, to calibrate the defense strategy. Mirabella, as is known, is a confessed perpetrator of the murder, which occurred in the afternoon of June 10 of last year on via Elorina.

On the same evening, just hours after the heinous act, Mirabella surrendered to the provincial command of the carabinieri, explaining that he had wanted to resort to violence, tired of the insistence with which Pellizzeri had asked him for the rent payment of an industrial warehouse. During the guarantee interrogation, Mirabella told the preliminary investigations judge that shortly before, the victim had denied his younger brother access to the warehouse to retrieve a saw for cutting swordfish and a photo of their grandmother. This would have been the spark for the subsequent argument, culminating in the afternoon with the murder of the lieutenant of the Coast Guard.

While waiting for the criminal proceedings to reach the courtroom, the little Sofia Caterina, born four months ago, second daughter of Giuseppe Pellizzeri and his wife Ilenia, received the sacrament of baptism. The religious ceremony, officiated by don Aurelio Russo, was celebrated in the basilica sanctuary of the Madonna delle Lacrime. The rite moved many people present in the church, all gathered around a baby born five months after the disappearance of the parent who will never be able to embrace.
