Fake "test" plates: 55-year-old reported while driving an SUV
Reported for using a false document: stopped in Mascalucia with plastic plates that imitated the test plate, the original was in the trunk.
The Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Unit of the Company of Gravina di Catania reported, based on collected evidence and pending further investigations in court, a 55-year-old man from Catania for "use of a false document".
During a morning operation against widespread illegality, along via Regione Siciliana in Mascalucia, the military personnel noticed a compact SUV with registration plates that appeared unusual.
The vehicle was stopped safely, and the driver, a 55-year-old resident of Camporotondo Etneo, was identified. The checks on the vehicle and the plates mounted both front and rear confirmed the irregularity of the plates: they were made of plastic and reproduced the numerical sequence of a "test plate" that was square, authentic, and regularly issued, which the driver kept in the trunk.
It is noted that the test plate is primarily issued by the Offices of the Civil Motorization of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and can only be square in shape, with standard measurements.
In this specific case, however, the plates applied to the SUV were rectangular, thus clearly non-compliant. The man was therefore driving with "test" plates considered false and not in accordance with regulatory models and, for this reason, he was referred to the judicial authority.
