Ends up in a ravine and gets injured: skier rescued at 2,100 meters with skis and Rolly stretcher
The man had fallen into the Rocca Sabbiosa Gorge: the intervention of the Sicilian National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps.
In the late morning today, the Technicians of the Etna South Station of the National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps of Sicily (CNSAS- SASS) intervened jointly with the Alpine Rescue of the Guardia di Finanza to rescue a skier who, following a fall in the "Canalone di Rocca sabbiosa", at an altitude of 2100 meters, below the Montagnola, sustained a significant shoulder injury.

The skier was reached with alpine skis, assessed from a medical standpoint, immobilized using a vacuum mattress, placed inside the Rolly stretcher, specifically designed for rescue operations on snow, and lowered down with skis by the Technicians of the Alpine Rescue and the Guardia di Finanza to the parking area below, where the 118 ambulance was waiting.
The injured person was then placed aboard the ambulance for subsequent transfer to a hospital facility.
