Snowplow in action on the Sp Caronia-Capizzi
Cold and ice on the Nebrodi mountains force the Metropolitan City of Messina to activate the winter plan and to clear provincial road 168 to restore traffic.
The snow has returned to make an appearance on the Nebrodi. Starting from Wednesday evening, the "white lady" began to blanket the higher centers, starting from Floresta, and then progressively spreading along the main provincial roads at altitude.
The heavy snowfall, accompanied by a noticeable drop in temperatures, has favored the formation of ice on the roadway, making immediate intervention necessary to ensure the safety of motorists in transit.
The Metropolitan City of Messina has therefore promptly activated its winter emergency plan, mobilizing men and equipment along the most exposed routes. From the early hours of the morning, the personnel of the road management sector of Palazzo dei Leoni have been engaged in coordinated snow removal and safety operations, also thanks to the use of snowplows.
The main critical issues have been recorded along the provincial road 168 Caronia-Capizzi, a strategic artery for the connection between the mountain centers of the Nebrodi and the Tyrrhenian coast. Despite the difficult weather conditions, the speed and effectiveness of the interventions have allowed for the quick restoration of safe traffic conditions, avoiding traffic jams and minimizing inconvenience for road users.
Following the evolution of the situation closely was Metropolitan Vice President Flavio Santoro, who constantly monitored the activities of the road management sector. "We are constantly committed to ensuring the safety of provincial roads and intervening promptly where necessary," he stated, also emphasizing the full operational capacity of the agency in addressing any further critical issues related to bad weather.
Palazzo dei Leoni will continue to maintain high attention on weather conditions, ensuring a constant presence along the provincial roads most exposed to the risk of new snowfall.
