The Sicilia Express returns for Easter: dates of the trips, available seats, and prices

The Sicilia Express returns for Easter 2026, the special train service promoted by the Sicilian Region in collaboration with FS Treni Turistici Italiani to facilitate, in view of the holidays, the return of Sicilians residing in Northern Italy.

Departure from Turin is scheduled for April 2, with final arrivals in Palermo and Syracuse; the return journey is expected on April 7.

The regional council approved today the funding for the initiative, allocating 153,400 euros from the Region's budget.

“Once again – says the president of the Sicilian Region Renato Schifani – we intervene to allow our fellow citizens who work or study in Northern cities to return home for the Easter holidays at a reasonable price. With this measure, we ensure the resources to organize the Sicilia Express. A very useful measure that has received strong approval, also considering the often unjustified increase in air and train fares during the holidays. My government reaffirms its commitment to promote the mobility of Sicilians, facing the whims of transport companies' algorithms.”

The train will depart from Turin Porta Nuova at 11:50 AM on Thursday, April 2 and, after stops in the main cities of Central-Northern Italy, will reach Messina at 8:45 AM on Friday, April 3. From there it will split: some carriages will continue to Palermo, arriving at 12:05 PM, while others will head to Syracuse, arriving at 12:30 PM.

There are 550 available seats. Fares start from 29.90 euros, depending on the type of accommodation.

Ticket sales will begin on March 22 through the official channels of Trenitalia (app, website, ticket offices, and affiliated agencies) and on the portal of FS Treni Turistici Italiani; in the coming days, details of the commercial offer will be available at www.fstrenituristici.it.

The Sicilia Express is designed to allow passengers not only to undertake a journey but to live an experience that accompanies them from the moment of departure towards home."
