This is what emerges from the video — now under review by the investigators — that captures the commandos who sprang into action last night in Acate, where two ATM machines from the UniCredit branch on via XX Settembre were literally uprooted and taken away using an excavator. The images confirm what the initial reconstructions had already outlined: the criminals acted with impressive speed, taking only a few minutes to complete the operation and disappear.

According to some reports gathered at the scene, the group — consisting of at least four to six people, some armed — used an excavator equipped with a large bucket to uproot the ATMs, loading them onto a truck with a trailer. The entire sequence, captured by the cameras in the area, shows a coordinated and hesitation-free action, a sign of a highly organized gang.

The escape was equally quick and violent: to slow down the arrival of patrols, the criminals abandoned a truck sideways on the road connecting Vittoria to Acate, causing an accident in which two carabinieri were injured, fortunately not seriously.
