Comiso, Mayor Schembari: "I will request an immediate hearing with the prefect of Ragusa"

During the night, on Casmene Street in Comiso, a gang of criminals carried out a spectacular heist against a jewelry store, using an excavator to break through the entrance and grab valuables before fleeing. The action, quick and violent, caused significant damage to the structure and a strong alarm among the residents.

The mayor, Maria Rita Schembari, states: «The incident that occurred last night on Casmene Street, with the jewelry store heist carried out using an excavator, is a matter of seriousness and concern that we cannot underestimate. I will immediately request the prefect — who has always been so attentive, from the very beginning of his appointment, to the issues of our province — for an urgent hearing, so that he is fully informed about what happened.»

«It is evident that even in traditionally more peaceful places, like the city of Comiso - the mayor continues - a tighter control is necessary, especially during the night hours and near commercial establishments of particular value, such as a jewelry store.
