Giuseppe Fava Square new outpost of legality for young people and families
The new area inaugurated in Mascalucia was created with an investment of 200,000 euros: a modern, safe, and above all, inclusive place.
A ribbon-cutting that is not just a bureaucratic formality, but a signal of urban and social rebirth. The community of Mascalucia celebrated the delivery of Giuseppe Fava Square, a completely redeveloped area that aims to become the new beating heart of the territory, combining the fun of the little ones with the socialization of the older ones, in the name of legality. Present at the inaugural ceremony were the mayor of Mascalucia, Vincenzo Magra, Hon. Marco Falcone, the councilor for Public Works and city coordinator of Forza Italia, Damiano Marchese, along with colleagues from the council group Dario Vellini, Agata Cinardo, and Valentina Eleonora Lombardo.
The intervention, made possible by a funding of about 200,000 euros, represents a fundamental piece in the vision of an Administration that looks to the future. "Returning squares and gathering places to the community means directly investing in the quality of life of our citizens - explained Councilor Marchese - we are creating a Mascalucia that looks ahead, putting our young people at the center and ensuring a better livability for all. This space is not just concrete and playgrounds, but a place for meeting and growth".
The design of the square was guided by the criteria of safety, accessibility, and inclusivity. Families can now enjoy a large play area designed for the little ones, with a wide selection of swings, slides, and modern rides, all installed according to the highest safety standards. A space for sports and leisure. For the older citizens, in fact, a regulation bocce court has been created, an invitation to rediscover moments of fun and relaxation outdoors. The naming of the square after Giuseppe Fava imbues the place with a profound ethical significance. In the presence of law enforcement, school principals, and students, the Administration wanted to pay tribute to the figure of the journalist killed by the mafia, as a "great man and excellent journalist, taken away too soon by unqualifiable individuals". A commitment that daily honors the memory of the man to whom the square is dedicated, recalling one of his deepest teachings: "What is the point of living if you do not have the courage to fight?" The participation of schools reiterated the importance of transmitting to young people the values of truth and civil courage, making the square a daily stronghold of legality. Now it is up to all of us to take care of this square as if it were our home - concludes Mayor Magra - because it truly is".
Immediately after the inauguration, many people have already decided to spend their time in this new reality of the Mascalucia territory.
