According to a statement from the Armed Forces broadcast by state television, Iran has launched cruise missiles at the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, warning that further launches will follow if the units of the carrier strike group enter the operational range.
"The Iranian Navy's Qader cruise missiles (land-based anti-ship missiles) targeted the USS Abraham Lincoln belonging to the United States, forcing it to change position," the statement reads. The communiqué also reports the words of the Navy commander, Admiral Shahram Irani, who stated that the movements of the carrier group - currently off the coast of Oman - are "constantly monitored... and as soon as this hostile fleet enters the range of our missile systems, it will be subject to powerful attacks by the Iranian Navy."
