Referendum, the No wins even in the country of Silvio Berlusconi

Arcore says no, albeit by a narrow margin, to the referendum on justice.

In the Brianzolo municipality, the opposition to the reform, long hoped for by its most illustrious citizen, Silvio Berlusconi, prevailed with 4,657 votes against 4,610 in favor, amounting to 50.25% of the votes.

A total of 9,305 voters turned out, with a turnout of 67.33%.

The verdict makes Arcore an exception in the context of Brianza — and, more generally, of Lombardy — where the reasons for yes prevailed.

In the province, in fact, the pro-reform side garnered 52.78%, while in the municipality known for being the long-time residence of the founder of Forza Italia, the no came out on top. A narrow victory, but still a victory.
