The weather for the week: what will happen after a mild start
A powerful Arctic intrusion is expected to bring strong winds and snowfall even to the hills.
Positive start to the week for most of the country. The Center-North will enjoy wide clearings and pleasant weather, while the southern regions will have to deal with residual instability linked to old disturbed impulses, with some isolated showers still possible, especially between Calabria and Sicily. Federico Brescia, meteorologist from iLMeteo.it announces, however, the descent of a massive cold air current between the evening of Wednesday, March 25, and the day of Thursday, March 26.
"The most affected areas - he declares - will be the sectors of the North-East and the entire Adriatic coast. In these areas, the temperature drop will be significant, accentuated by strong northern winds that will blow with intensity across the entire national territory, bringing temperatures well below the typical averages for this period." Snowfall at very low altitudes is expected, with flakes possibly reaching down to the lower hills or locally touching the plains of the North-East.
In detail:
Monday, 23. In the North: slightly cloudy. In the Center: afternoon instability in Marche, Umbria, Lazio, and Abruzzo, better in Tuscany. In the South: unstable weather with scattered rain and showers, especially in the afternoon.
Tuesday, 24. In the North: stable and slightly cloudy. In the Center: clear or slightly cloudy. In the South: variable with showers in the mountains, especially in Sicily and Calabria.
Wednesday, 25. In the North: Arctic front arriving from the afternoon/evening with rain in Liguria and the North-East, snow in the Alps. In the Center: slightly cloudy, unstable only in high Tuscany. In the South: clear or slightly cloudy.
Trend: Thursday, 26. Invasion of strong winds, heavy rain, and snowfall in the hills.
