Kushner and Witkoff lead Trump's team to negotiate with Iran: the U.S. also imposes six conditions
The team mediated by Egypt, Qatar, and the United Kingdom; what the United States is asking for
The envoys of Donald Trump, Jared Kushner, and Steve Witkoff are forming a team to negotiate with Iran at the president's request. This is reported by Axios. In recent days, there have been no direct contacts between the USA and Iran, but Egypt, Qatar, and the United Kingdom have acted as intermediaries for the exchange of messages, the sources emphasize. Egypt and Qatar have informed the USA and Israel that Iran is interested in starting negotiations, although under very strict conditions. For their part, the United States have set six conditions (the same number Iran has set), from a halt to the missile program for five years to a complete stop to uranium enrichment.
The other conditions set by the USA are: the dismantling of the nuclear facilities in Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow; strict external monitoring protocols regarding the production and use of centrifuges and related machinery; arms control treaties with regional countries, which include a maximum cap on missiles not exceeding 1,000 units; no funding to affiliated groups such as Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, or Hamas in Gaza.
