The last farewell
Bossi, applause, flags, and chants in Pontida: everyone present from the controversial Salvini to Mario Monti
The coffin of the Senatùr crossed the meadow to the tune of "Va, pensiero" sung by the Alpini, accompanied, among others, by Giorgetti.
Applause from the militants and the flags with the sun of the Alps greet the coffin of Umberto Bossi as it passes in front of the meadow of Pontida, the "sacred ground" for the Lega where its rally is held every year.
The hearse stopped for a few minutes in front of the meadow amidst applause and chants, "Bossi, Bossi", before departing.

Visibly moved, Giancarlo Giorgetti walked alongside the coffin of the founder of the Lega, together with the militants, almost all dressed in something green, while the family followed by car. At the end of the celebrations in church, the choir of the Alpini from Val Masino accompanied the coffin singing Va Pensiero, the song Bossi had sung many times from the Pontida stage. Shortly after, Prime Minister Meloni and other authorities left the town in the Bergamasca region. Among those who attended the funeral was also former Prime Minister Mario Monti.

The funeral was preceded by some protest chants, especially upon the arrival of the Minister of Transport and current leader of the Lega, Matteo Salvini, who appeared wearing a green shirt.

"We have a dream in our hearts, to burn the tricolor".
This was the chant echoed by hundreds of Lega militants at the end of Umberto Bossi's funeral as the coffin was escorted out of the church by the family and the highest state officials, including Meloni, Ignazio La Russa, and Antonio Tajani.

The Minister of Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti said into the microphone, "please" to calm the militants and allow the priest to recite the eternal rest. At the end of the ceremony, chants of "Padania free" were also shouted several times.
