Weather alert
Arctic cyclone on the way and temperatures plummeting: here's when
Strong winds, very rough seas, and the risk of thunderstorms and hail are expected.
Snow down to 500 meters in the Center-North, accompanied by strong winds and very rough seas, with a real drop in temperatures.
These are the consequences of the arrival of an Arctic cyclone in Italy, starting from the evening of Wednesday, March 25.
To illustrate this is Lorenzo Tedici, meteorologist from iLMeteo.it, who specifies that an extreme phase is expected between March 25 and 28, with a disturbance capable of triggering even violent phenomena (thunderstorms and hailstorms).
“We will therefore follow closely - he notes - the exact trajectory of this Arctic front, but we can already state with high confidence that temperatures will remain relentlessly below average at least until Palm Sunday.”
While waiting for the arrival of the cyclone, however, instability will continue to dominate: on Saturday, bad weather will move from the Dolomites to the west; starting in the evening, it will snow much more intensely precisely in the Western Alps, where adverse weather conditions will be the main feature until the late morning of Sunday.
The day of Sunday, Tedici continues, “will thus open with rains over much of the Northwest; subsequently, however, the weather in these areas will tend to improve, while instability will increase in the Center-South. We will witness the most classic of spring instabilities: between Lazio, Abruzzo, Molise and much of the South, frequent afternoon showers will break out, which will be more intense and organized near the mountains.”
In detail:
Saturday 21. In the North: worsening from Triveneto towards the Northwest in the evening, snow in the Alps. In the Center: variable weather with plenty of sunshine. In the South: sunny, then increasing clouds and some isolated showers.
Sunday 22. In the North: unsettled in the Northwest. In the Center: variable weather with afternoon showers. In the South: unstable with widespread showers.
Monday 23. In the North: sunny. In the Center: variable weather. In the South: unstable with scattered showers.
Trend: from the evening of Wednesday, March 25 cold air from Norway with winter weather.
