The two young people, she 20 years old, he 23, died instantly. The taxi, driven by a 61-year-old Milanese man, was coming from the city center and was traveling along corso XXII Marzo. The motorcycle, operated by the 23-year-old from Capannori (Lucca), with a girl from Locate di Triulzi (Milan) on board, arrived at the intersection - according to the initial findings of the local Police - would have continued moving, despite the red traffic light. At that point, the crash occurred, so forcefully that the taxi overturned, coming to a stop on viale Corsica.
The on-duty prosecutor ordered the seizure of both vehicles and the helmets worn by the two young people, who were found in cardiac arrest by the 118 rescue team and died at the scene. The taxi driver was transported in yellow code to the Policlinico hospital.
The motorcycle was coming from via Piola and was traveling along viale Campania, heading towards the Corvetto neighborhood.
When the motorcycle reached a red traffic light, it continued moving without obeying it, crashing into the taxi.
