The global crisis
China condemns the killing of Larijani and warns the U.S. on Taiwan
The Beijing Foreign Ministry describes targeted killings in the Middle East as "unacceptable." A warning to Washington: "Stop fueling the Chinese threat theory."
China strongly condemns the killing of Iranian security chief Ali Larijani by Israel, calling the act unacceptable and reiterating the demand for an immediate ceasefire. During a press conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian emphasized China's firm opposition to the use of force in international relations, particularly highlighting the seriousness of targeted killings of leaders and attacks against civilian targets.
Chinese diplomacy also addressed relations with Washington, urging the United States to stop spreading the theory that portrays China as a global threat. The statement follows the release of a U.S. intelligence report indicating that Beijing has no plans for an invasion of Taiwan in the coming year. Lin Jian explicitly called on the United States to correct its strategic outlook and to maintain a cautious attitude, both in statements and actions, regarding the sensitive issue of the autonomous island.
