The U.S. embassy in Baghdad was attacked with drones. Trump: "Perhaps we will reconsider our participation in NATO."
The air defense intercepted the aircraft, explosions and fires are reported.
Three drones loaded with explosives attacked the United States embassy near the Baghdad airport in Iraq. Police sources stated that an air defense system was activated. Several loud explosions were heard, according to reports from Afp, related to the activation of the embassy's air defense system which intercepted the aircraft. Another witness saw a fire in the embassy complex from his balcony; the fire was also reported by a security officer, who stated it was caused by a drone.
Trump for his part declares: "We, as United States, need to remember this, because I think it is quite shocking." This is what the President of the United States said while discussing the fact that NATO allies did not respond positively to his request to participate in a coalition for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, stating that the United States should reconsider their participation in NATO. "It is certainly something we should think about," he added, reiterating that the U.S. was not obligated to help when Russia invaded Ukraine. "We helped them but they did not help us, I think it is really a bad thing for NATO," he concluded.
