"I promised myself to promote Italian cuisine and Italy in a way that doesn't romanticize it too much, but celebrates it for what good it has to offer. Italy is an extraordinary country and the only way to tell this story, I believe, is through food, because it is probably the most extraordinary cuisine in the world." Words of Stanley Tucci.

The American actor was one of the most anticipated guests today in Trieste, at the congress of the Italian association Ambassadors of Taste, which celebrated its ten years since its founding with the conference "Roots, Borders, and Visions".

Tucci was named honorary associate, receiving the title of Ambassador of Taste, as it was explained, "with extreme professionalism, sensitivity, and passion, he has managed to bring Italian cuisine into the hearts of homes around the world, with an exceptional narrative of our culinary heritage." With the series Tucci in Italy, the actor embarked on a journey through the kitchens of the Italian regions.

"I grew up in an Italian-American family - explained Tucci - I lived a year in Florence as a young man, and cooking completely turned my life around. In my family, all events revolved around the kitchen table, and we talked about food while we ate." Tucci emphasized the importance of valuing "the diversity that exists in all the Italian regions. I had the idea, in my programs, to fragment Italy precisely through its regions, talking about food, traveling in Italy. In America, no one had done it yet. And I wanted to tell all this through the inhabitants of the various regions, I was just the spokesperson for these people. I also wanted to tell their stories. And I believe this has also been a key to the success of the documentaries produced."

Among the well-known faces of Italian catering and television present today are also Antonia Klugmann and Carlo Cracco. The program of the congress will unfold over three days, including moments of tasting local products. Among the opening speeches, the greeting from the president of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Massimiliano Fedriga: «You are the proof that culture is economy, that innovative, studied, and passed down culinary art is a fundamental part of our identity».
