The tasty art of Easter egg decoration: in Catania, students compete for the most beautiful work
The trophy is named after Master Tino Venuti, a key figure in the world of regional and national pastry.
In Catania, one of the most original and creative events dedicated to young Sicilian artists: the 7th “Tino Venuti” Trophy – Easter Egg Decoration Competition, scheduled for Friday, March 20 and Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the GranDuomo Event Center (via Etnea, 28). Promoted by the Duciezio cultural association, the competition is aimed at students of artistic high schools in Sicily and was created to keep alive the memory of the master Tino Venuti, a reference figure in the regional and national pastry world.
The Trophy represents an important opportunity for artistic expression for young people, who are called to engage with the theme of “Easter”, reinterpreted through the decoration of chocolate eggs. The works will be evaluated by a qualified jury according to criteria of: beauty; originality; and quality of execution. The initiative aims to enhance creative talent and promote the culture of beauty, combining art, education, and pastry tradition. The works created by the students will be exhibited at the GranDuomo Event Center. There will also be a non-competitive section dedicated to the artist friends of Duciezio: Nicola Longo; Fausto Rizzo; Fabio Fiorenza; and Marco Petrotto.

Today, starting at 3:30 PM, the eggs will be on display, and at 4:30 PM, the awards ceremony will take place. Tomorrow, however, the exhibition will open to the public, from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM and from 4:30 PM to 9:30 PM. The event sees the collaboration of the “Giovanni Falcone” Professional Hotel Institute of Giarre, involved in the reception and organization.
Enriching the initiative is the presence of a guest exhibition of watercolors by the artist Marco Petrotto, which will help create a dialogue between different artistic forms.
