It is no longer just a project on paper, but an operational program. With the signing that took place yesterday in Palermo by the President of the Region, Renato Schifani, the Functional Urban Area (FUA) of Ragusa officially enters the implementation phase.

Among the signatories of the protocol, which connects the six municipalities of the areaRagusa, Vittoria, Modica, Scicli, Giarratana, and Santa Croce Camerina — stands out the dynamism of the administration led by Mayor Peppe Dimartino, ready to translate into construction sites interventions aimed at redefining the profile of the coastal strip and the city center.

Thanks to European Union and ERDF resources, the Municipality of Santa Croce Camerina has secured funding for four strategic works, long awaited by the community and crucial for tourism revival:

the construction of the pedestrian and cycling path from Casuzze to Punta Secca (920,000 euros), which will finally ensure continuity with Marina di Ragusa;

the complete renovation of Viale degli Atleti (1.5 million euros);

a new intermodal parking station in Punta Secca, on Via Gronchi (679,000 euros), essential for decongesting the village of 'Commissario Montalbano';

the redevelopment of Piazza Primavera in Caucana (360,000 euros), to restore decorum and centrality to the seaside district.

The mayor, Peppe Dimartino, is satisfied, emphasizing that the FUA of Ragusa is among the first Sicilian realities to reach this milestone: "Yesterday was a turning point. We are moving from the vision phase to the reality phase. These results do not fall from the sky: they are the result of a silent work, of a close institutional dialogue, and of a territorial governance that has been able to work as a team."

The signing of the agreement confirms that cooperation among municipalities is not just a slogan, but a concrete tool to capture large European funds. The Administration expressed public gratitude to the municipal offices and the FUA technicians, whose expertise has proven decisive in overcoming the rigorous bureaucratic steps required by community programming.
