Dhaka is reborn: Electric Power acquires the plant and invests 10 million
The electromechanical company acquires at auction the decommissioned site of Aci Catena and launches an industrial revival plan: construction site to start within a month, opening in 2027.
Electric Power, a cutting-edge metalworking company with 45 employees and a turnover of 10 million euros in 2025, has acquired at a judicial auction the land and plant of Dacca, a historic company from Aci Catena that had long ceased producing disposable plastic tableware. "We will invest 10 million euros to renovate the plant, set up the facility, and acquire machinery, and we will create an additional 30-35 new jobs, reviving an industrial hub that has contributed to writing the history of industry in the foothills of Etna," says Renato Licciardello, sole director of Electric Power. "This way – continues the entrepreneur – we will be able to unify the entire production process in a single site, which is currently scattered and articulated in two separate plants, one in Acireale and the other in Aci Sant'Antonio." Tight deadlines to start the work of the new production hub. At the end of next month, the construction site will be opened. The new plant, which will cover a total area of 18,000 square meters plus a yard of 25,000 square meters, will be ready by the end of April 2027.

"Thanks to the economies of scale we expect to achieve – adds Licciardello – our turnover will increase from 12.5 million euros this year to 20 million euros by 2027, and employment will grow to 75-80 employees."
A historic brand of the D’Agostino family, Dacca disappeared from the scene eight years ago. Founded in 1971, the company, which had as its symbol a coin of the old hundred lire, was owned by Rosa D'Agostino, the sister of regional parliament member Nicola D'Agostino. The “green” shift of the European Union and its member states, including Italy, which banned highly polluting plastic for the environment, pushed the company out of the market, and the ambitious attempt at green and sustainable chemistry to convert its production by using cellulose pulp to create non-polluting disposable products also failed.
Founded in 1997, Electric Power is an electromechanical company specialized in the design and manufacturing of medium and low voltage electrical panels, protection and control electrical devices, power stations, digital panels for Terna substations, reference products for the entire global market, as well as prefabricated metal cabins, certified according to the latest specifications of the clients.
The company has two facilities: the first, which is still the legal and operational headquarters of the business, is located in Aci Sant’Antonio. Over 5,000 square meters of which 1,800 are covered. An innovative industry 4.0 metalworking site, where the processing of raw materials is mainly carried out using laser cutting machines, punch presses, bending presses, welding robots and bending, as well as an innovative powder coating plant. The more recent headquarters, on the other hand, is located in Acireale and has over 10,000 square meters, of which 3,200 are covered, 800 square meters of offices where all administrative and logistics activities take place, including design, R&D, assembly and wiring, testing, and product acceptance testing in a testing laboratory.
What characterizes Electric Power's activity is the winning combination of thirty years of experience and the desire to innovate through a constant activity carried out in the research and development center, while the staff is trained in the Electrical Academy. This allows the company to operate stably in established sectors and at the same time respond to new needs and new markets, ensuring significant growth margins for many years now.
Thanks to this synergy, among Electric Power's clients, present in the domestic market and abroad, are national and international companies such as Enel, Terna, Siemens, ABB, Ducati Energia, Hitachi, A2A, Acea, and Eni.
