Price increases in construction, Ance Ragusa: "Immediate action is needed"
President Firrincieli: "The situation is becoming increasingly difficult"

Reports are increasing, including from local businesses, of price hikes deemed unjustified on construction materials in the Ragusa area.
The speculative pressures triggered by geopolitical tensions are not only affecting fuels and utilities but also products not subject to excise taxes, for which specific measures are being called for.
“Since last week, and with an increase in the last few hours, we have been receiving reports from our businesses about increases in construction materials, not only petrochemical derivatives like bitumen but also steel, along with an increase in transportation costs,” explains the president of Ance Ragusa, Giorgio Firrincieli.
“Unfortunately, the effects of geopolitical tensions on raw materials are already significant and involve the entire construction supply chain, which in the Ragusa area is engaged in an important effort to complete the Pnrr works on schedule.”
Without timely intervention, the association warns, businesses risk having to absorb the consequences of the conflict on their own, with serious repercussions on the stability of the system.
For this reason, Ance Ragusa “hopes for the adoption of a tool to sterilize the increase in tax revenue resulting from the rise in prices of all construction materials that are directly or indirectly affected by the ongoing crisis. Structural measures and concrete assistance from the Government and Institutions are needed to prevent any slowdown in the development of ongoing projects that impact the future of our territories. As far as we are concerned, we are ready to do our part to identify urgent solutions,” concludes Firrincieli.
